Reports To: Managing Director / Board of DirectorsPosition Summary:This is a new position of Construction Director, the Successful candidate will lead the construction team in the clients new Dublin office with responsibility for all Projects in the Leinster area. Our client is an expanding Main Contractor with an excellent leadership opportunity for an ambitious construction professional.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and oversight across all construction projects within the organization. This role involves managing project teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality construction services, overseeing the budgeting and financial performance of projects, and ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards. The Construction Director will drive the growth and profitability of the construction division, providing guidance to teams and building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.Salary & Benefits:

Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead and manage the construction division, ensuring all projects are aligned with company goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction within the construction division.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to senior project managers, construction managers, and project teams.
- Foster a culture of high performance, safety, and accountability across the construction teams.
Project Oversight & Delivery:
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from pre-construction planning to project completion, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule adherence.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers to manage the scope, design, procurement, construction, and handover of projects.
- Address project challenges and issues, proactively identifying and resolving risks.
Financial Management:
- Manage and approve project budgets, including cost estimation, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Monitor and ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints, minimizing cost overruns and maximizing profit margins.
- Oversee the selection of subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and quality service delivery.
- Review and approve progress payments, invoices, and contract variations.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as the key point of contact for clients throughout the duration of projects, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction, responding to client needs, and resolving concerns promptly.
- Actively contribute to business development efforts, including presenting proposals, securing new projects, and identifying opportunities for repeat business.
Contract Management & Risk Mitigation:
- Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and execution of construction contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage risks related to contracts, disputes, and claims, ensuring proactive risk management strategies are in place.
- Ensure projects are compliant with safety regulations, environmental standards, and building codes.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with project delays, safety concerns, or budget overruns.
Team Development & Performance:
- Lead, motivate, and develop construction teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and foster professional development opportunities for team members.
- Ensure effective communication across all project teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain a positive, collaborative working environment to support the growth and development of the construction department.
Health, Safety & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulations across all projects, promoting a culture of safety first.
- Implement and enforce quality assurance processes to guarantee the delivery of high-quality construction work.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure safety and quality standards are maintained.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all local laws, regulations, and industry standards related to construction and safety.
- Provide regular reports to senior management regarding project performance, financial status, and key metrics.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes that may affect the construction process.
Qualifications:Education:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, PMP, CIOB) are desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role such as Construction Manager, Senior Project Manager, or similar.
- Proven experience managing large-scale, complex projects, with a strong track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, project management tools, and best practices.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Solid understanding of construction contracts, risk management, and dispute resolution.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Aconex).
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget oversight, cost control, and forecasting.
