As a member of the Rhythm Iberia field-based team, the Scientific Affairs Manager (SAM) serves as a trusted scientific partner with HCPS, key external experts and decision makers engaging in mutual scientific exchange. You will leverage your scientific background, industry knowledge, and business acumen to act as a scientific resource to both external experts and internal colleagues.You will be responsible for building peer to peer relationships with HCPs, external experts and other stakeholders to deliver clinical, scientific, and medical education. Further, you will support research initiatives, advisory boards, and other compliant scientific exchange activities to support the Rhythm Medical Affairs’ medical plan and tactics.Responsibilities and Duties
- As a member of the Iberian Medical Affairs team, develop and implement the local Medical Affairs strategically aligned tactical plan
- Be a trusted scientific partner to HCPs, key external experts by conducting timely, appropriate, and frequent scientific exchanges to enhance the understanding of the scientific and medical value of Rhythm’s research
- Map patient journeys, diagnosis, and therapeutic patterns, whilst building and developing peer-to-peer relationships with the relevant external experts
- Support clinical trial execution through follow up on health care providers (HCPs), education of referral sites for clinical trials and investigators to increase enrollment, and triage logistical issues impeding progress of clinical studies to cross functional team for resolution
- Establish genetic testing initiatives in collaboration with HCPs and obesity treatment networks
- Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource to HCPS, disease experts and medical community with up-to-date relevant medical information and product information to build the rare genetic diseases of obesity community
- Able to interpret key scientific data and translate this information to meet educational and research needs in alignment with Rhythm Medical Communications
- Support the scientific communication plan by identifying HCP knowledge gaps and facilitating medical/scientific non-promotional presentations
- Provide scientific input and participate into local medical and cross-functional initiatives/projects, promoting local scientific publications
- Communicates key medical insights from external experts and other to inform medical strategy
- Maintain effective and appropriate communication among internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs colleagues, Medical Information, etc.) while maintaining full compliance with relevant company, industry, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information in a timely manner. Ensure that an accurate and fair-balanced response is provided
Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced degree in a pharmaceutical, scientific, or medical field (PharmD, PhD, MD)
- 8 or more years’ experience within a Medical Science Liaison or similar field facing role with primary emphasis on field based scientific exchange within the biopharmaceutical industry strongly preferred. Relevant pharmaceutical and clinical/therapeutic experience also a consideration
- Demonstrates superior communication skills and scientific acumen when presenting clinical, disease state information to a variety of audiences
- Excellent communication and presentation skills – fluent in local language for the market and in verbal and written English
- Demonstrates knowledge of regional/local specific healthcare systems, the evolving medical landscape, reimbursement and industry trends.
- Ability to work in collaboration with the international region and with a positive attitude
This role is field- based in Spain. Candidates applying must be willing and able to work primarily out of their home office. This role will involve up to 50% travel.More about Rhythm
