Job description

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Data apps & AI team.This team will work on our platform for storing and analyzing our customer data. The goal is to provide automated, AI/ML-driven insights built on our customers’ data that drive optimization and growth.In this role, you will:

  • Build new products for our customers that leverage AI/ML
  • Lead a strong team of highly skilled and hard-working software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists who strive to share insights and suggestions
  • Design and build a scalable architecture for storing our customers’ data
  • Provide technical guidance to the team on data architecture and data engineering
  • Work with product and other development teams to deliver features and improvements

Your day-to-day work and responsibilities include:

  • Providing guidance and mentorship to team members, assisting with problem-solving, code reviews, and architectural decisions
  • Working with the team on technical discovery and planning
  • Participating in hands-on development and technical decisions
  • Working with the product manager and other stakeholders on building backlog, setting priorities, resolving blockers, resource allocation
  • Continuously evaluating and improving engineering processes and practices to increase efficiency, quality, and team productivity
  • Coordinating cross-team work and collaboration
  • Having 1-on-1s with team members and coaching them

  • Google Cloud Platform
  • Data Lakehouse architecture
  • Open data formats, like Apache Iceberg and Apache Polaris
  • Apache Kafka
  • Temporal

This position is for you if you have…

  • Great understanding of data architecture & data engineering
  • Understanding of software development processes, such as Agile or Scrum
  • Familiar with project management tools, such as JIRA
  • Experience leading and managing engineering teams, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management
  • Attention to detail, delegation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication in English and experience working in an international environment, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
