Freelance Senior Software Engineer (Kortrijk, Belgium)

About the Project: Join us as a Senior Software Engineer, playing a key role in integrating cloud, data, and AI components to deliver a high-quality solution with speed to market. Your expertise in modern software development, scripting languages (Node.js, TypeScript), and microservices architecture (Docker) – both on-premise and in AWS – will be crucial to the success of the project. Responsibilities:

* Translate user stories into practical, high-quality software implementations.
* Integrate cloud, data, and AI components into a cohesive, scalable solution.
* Use your expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and microservices architecture to make technological choices that balance speed and quality.
* Deliver clean, maintainable code, ensuring thorough documentation and unit testing.
* Mentor and coach junior engineers, helping them grow and contribute effectively to the team.
* Collaborate in a SCRUM environment with a multinational team to ensure timely delivery.
* Contribute to cloud and backend development (AWS, databases, DevOps).
* Define integration approaches for third-party components and cloud backends (REST, IoT).

Requirements:

* 5+ years of experience in enterprise-grade software development.
* Strong experience with Typescript, Node.js, AWS, Docker Swarm (AWS Lambda experience a plus).
* Proven ability to integrate third-party components and build scalable, high-performance systems.
* Experience in coaching and mentoring junior engineers.
* Ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy in a global team.
* Healthcare technology experience is a plus but not required.
* Fluent in English; Dutch is a bonus.
