Job Description:A position as postdoc (100% time) is vacant at the Andersen group, , the (KI), and Department of Clinical Biochemistry, (OUH).The position is limited to 1 year with the possibility of employment as an Assistant Professor later.The research unitOverall, the Andersen group utilize regenerative medicine to improve repair of the heart after myocardial infarction (MI). Specifically, we work on i) maturing human induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) for replacement therapy after MI, ii) limiting fibrosis through gene therapy, as well as iii) by identifying novel mechanisms to compensate for the loss of cardiomyocytes after MI. The position is financed by Professor Ditte C. Andersen’s grants from the Novo Nordisk Foundation among others.At the Andersen group we all strive to reach the same goals working as a solid team and making all projects synergetic. The postdoc will together with other members participate both in “Developing induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs) based therapy to treat heart failure patients” but also in the project “Cardiomyocyte polyploidy, a challenge, and a prospect to regenerate the heart”. Both projects are part of a work package in the STEMBRACE3P project, which is an interdisciplinary hub of scientist from SDU Human Health and SDU Health/OUH organized to encircle patients, public, and practitioners (“3Ps”) and hereby serve as a powerhouse for the implementation of stem cell therapies in Danish Medical Care and society.Moreover, the selected candidate will participate in other projects concerning heart regeneration, including studies in zebrafish, as well as in general management of the lab including zebrafish household. The postdoc may also be implemented in the clinical GMP based work on producing stem cells at OUH-CELL-BENCH.The academic positionThe job involves research, professional development, research education, teaching, including exams, supervision and assessment work within the field of heart regeneration. In addition, there will be writing of articles, licenses, grant applications, etc. Moreover, work related to clinical development of stem cell products and execution of clinical trials including working interdisciplinary will be a requirement.Expectations and qualificationsThe postdoc must have documented research experience within the areas of tissue regeneration, cell culture, and hands-on in animal models of disease including a permit to work with research animals.In addition, good cooperation skills are expected in order to further the development of research in the areas mentioned above, both interdisciplinary as well as nationally and internationally.
