Behaviour Support Assistant – ReadingA specialist school in Reading is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team for the new academic year. This is a full-time position supporting students with significant behavioural and emotional needs, many of whom have experienced trauma, adverse home environments, or disrupted education.Your role as a Behaviour Support Assistant is an important one as you will be responsible for supporting the classroom as whole, while also being a right hand for the students. The students in this setting have had a complicated home life and struggle with mental health needs as a result. This often makes its way to behavioural needs, as these students try to navigate their way through their academics while learning to manage their mental health needs.In your role as a Behaviour Support Assistant, you wil:

  • Provide in-class and out-of-class support to students with behavioural difficulties
  • Help students regulate their emotions using restorative and therapeutic approaches
  • De-escalate challenging situations and promote a calm atmosphere
  • Work with teachers and support staff to implement individual behaviour plans
  • Act as a positive role model and build strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and self-reflection
