Commercial Banking Analytics is in charge of delivering value to the business units by participating in strategic projects that have a strong data component, or by creating actionable insights for optimizing the decision making processes at all levels of the Organization. Commercial Banking is a Global unit based in Madrid and interacts with other global departments and with local units all across BBVA’s footprint (Spain, Mexico, South America and Turkey).About the job:We are looking for a results-oriented, enthusiastic and self-motivated senior data scientist with proven experience in designing and implementing data-driven solutions for business units to achieve tangible impact. You will apply your technical knowledge to help business units create, develop, and/or optimize data-driven products, and derive actionable insights from data. You will also use your communication skills to share the results of your analysis with all relevant parties. You will use your project management skills to lead end to end data projects.Key responsibilitiesCollaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to gather and understand needs and requirementsLead end to end data projects, managing all aspects: relationship with business, engineering, Data and development teamLead and guide more junior data scientists to achieve the project and business objectivesDevelop clean, simple and creative code to manipulate large datasetsDesign and implement robust analytic solutions ranging from basic statistical analysis to advanced machine learning / artificial intelligence models to cover the identified needsRepresent / visualize results in the most appropriate format and present your findings effectively to analytical and non-analytical audiences.Collaborate with IT teams to convert analytical proof of concepts into productive modelsRequired Skills and ExperienceSolid foundations in areas like (the more the better)Statistical analysis is a MUSTMachine learning for classification, regression and unsupervised tasks is a MUST (actual experience required). Reinforcement learning is a plusTime series analysis is a plusGenAI experience is a plusNatural language processing is a plusGraph analysis is a plusOptimization is a plusSignal and/or image processing is a plusProgramming experience:Excellent programming skills and experience developing production-quality software.Experience with SQL, Python, PySpark is a MUST (at least, two of them)Real experience in designing and implementing analytical solutions with different programming libraries is a MUSTKnowledge of visualization tools and libraries is a plusExperience with deep learning frameworks is a plusStrong business sense to put data in perspective, and extract meaningful conclusionsAbility to translate academic results from scientific papers into actionable solutionsExperience and knowledge of the financial industry is a plusNatural inclination for sharing findings and engaging in problem-solving with teammates, helping them with their challenges, and asking for their help when neededAdvanced level of English and Spanish8+ years of professional experience (data scientist, business intelligence, consulting…)Preferred QualificationsMSc/ PhD in a relevant field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math, or other related subjectWorking knowledge of the financial industry products/services and operations is a plusProficiency in Spanish and English is a MUSTSkills:Analytical Thinking, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analysis, ML Algorithms (Classification)
