Application deadline 2025-08-31About us:The advertised positions are integrated in the at the Department of the LMU Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy. A doctoral thesis with us offers you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in preparative and analytical techniques: Biochemistry of proteins and nucleic acids and NMR spectroscopy. We collaborate intensively and in an interdisciplinary way, for example with research groups from electron microscopy and computational chemistry.We are looking for you:Doctoral researcher (m/f/x)in MunichYour tasks and responsibilities:

  • Carry out your research project independently in the context of a doctoral degree
  • Maintaining collaborations, writing publications, and presentation of results
  • Assist in teaching courses at the Department of Chemistry

Your research projectAll positions are fully funded for the next four years by the ERC (European Research Council), the DFG and Boehringer-Ingelheim-Stiftung.Project 1: Develop ligand-detected NMR techniques using late-stage and biocatalytic isotope labeling of small molecules. Applicants should have some background in organic synthesis, chemical biology, or NMR method development.Project 2: Apply a data-driven approach to uncover dynamic protein allostery and identify new contact points for functional modulation by small molecules. Strong interest in data analysis and experience with machine learning is a plus for this project.Your qualifications:We welcome applications from students with (future) Master’s degrees in the natural sciences. Previous training in magnetic resonance, biological chemistry or biochemistry is very welcome.Benefits:The positions are available immediately and are paid according to 65%. The workplace is located at Campus Munich-Großhadern with very good connections to public transport. Our laboratories and workplaces are newly furnished and excellently equipped.
