  • Remuneration: Basic remuneration PLN 8300 gross/month plus allowance for years of service (upon documentation of work experience) and the additional annual remuneration

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBLIGATIONS

  • Conducting research related to the scientific project titled “Calculus of variations in machine learning problems”, in particular:
  • variational formulation of neural network learning
  • convergence of Langevin Monte Carlo algorithms
  • Dissemination of research results through participation in scientific conferences, presentations, and publication in reputable scientific journals.

CONDITIONS FOR ENTERING THE COMPETITION

  • Fulfilment of the requirements set out in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, consolidated text).
  • At the moment of employment, the candidate must hold a PhD degree in mathematics or related fields. The degree must be obtained no earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project.
  • The applicant must have obtained the PhD at an institution other than the hiring one, or have completed at least a 10-month continuous and documented postdoctoral fellowship in an institution other than the project-hosting institution and in a country different from the one in which the PhD was obtained.
  • Significant scientific achievements.
  • International experience.

In addition, we expect:

  • At the time of employment, the candidate must hold a PhD in mathematics (or equivalent) and have suitable expertise to conduct research in mathematics, especially in one or more of the following areas:
  • calculus of variations
  • optimal transport theory
  • theoretical aspects of machine learning

Restrictions:

  • During the period of employment, the employee cannot receive remuneration under another employment contract.
  • During the remuneration period under the OPUS 28 project UMO-2024/55/B/ST6/01694 “Calculus of variations in machine learning problems”, the employee must not receive other remuneration from direct costs of NCN-funded research projects.
