R&D Project & Portfolio Control Manager
(PMO / Project Management / Portfolio background)
Location: Utrecht / Brussels / Paris
From Project Delivery to Portfolio Ownership
This role is designed for an experienced PMO professional or senior project manager who wants to move beyond timelines and governance into financial oversight and strategic influence within R&D.
A growing, innovation-led organisation is professionalising how it manages and controls a large R&D project portfolio and is looking for someone who understands how projects really work, not just how they are reported.
You will oversee the financial and structural backbone of the R&D portfolio, supporting dozens of project leaders while improving consistency, transparency, and decision quality.
This is a role for someone who enjoys complexity, challenge, and influence, and who can earn credibility with senior project stakeholders.
Your Impact
* Oversee portfolio-level budgets, forecasts, and reporting
* Challenge project assumptions with data and insight
* Improve prioritisation and governance across R&D projects
* Own the R&D project management and reporting tool
* Train and support project leaders in financial thinking
* Act as a senior partner, not an administrator
Your Background
* PMO Manager, Senior Project Manager, Portfolio Analyst, or Project Controller
* Experience in a scientific or technical environment
* Strong project control mindset with financial awareness
* Confident pushing back and asking difficult questions
* Ready for a broader, more strategic role
Why This Role
* Central role in shaping how R&D investments are managed
* Strong organisational stability and collaborative culture
* Autonomy, ownership, and visibility
* Hybrid working and flexibility on location
