Job Category: Applied R&DDegree Level: Master’s DegreeJob Description:As a 6G RAN System Architect – Energy Efficiency, you will play a pivotal role in defining and developing next-generation energy-efficient Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions. Your work will directly contribute to shaping 6G technology by driving architectural innovations, influencing industry standards, and developing energy-saving features that enhance network sustainability. - Lead the architectural design and optimization of energy-efficient RAN solutions across Radio, Baseband, and Cloud domains
- Contribute to the definition of power management strategies spanning hardware and software, including SoCs, baseband processing, and cloud infrastructure. This includes intelligent power scaling, dynamic resource allocation, and AI/ML-driven energy optimization techniques
- Define reference configurations, deployment models, and KPIs for energy efficiency in 6G systems. Develop power measurement scenarios for energy consumption analysis and benchmarking
- Engage with standardization bodies and industry forums to influence 6G energy efficiency specifications and contribute to Nokia intelectual property portfolio
- Drive the technical roadmap for energy-efficient 6G systems, ensuring alignment with industry trends, sustainability goals and deployed Nokia products
Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in mobile network architecture, with a strong focus on RAN systems
- Deep knowledge of 4G/5G technologies and evolution towards 6G
- Expertise in power optimization techniques across radio, computing, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong background in system architecture and requirements engineering
- Proven track record of contributions to industry standards and specifications
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in AI/ML applications for network energy optimization
- Knowledge of telco cloud architectures and cloud-native technologies
- Knowledge of cloud orchestration, automation, and open-source initiatives (e.g., O-RAN, Kepler)
- Background in power measurement methodologies and energy analytics
- Strong patent portfolio in relevant energy-efficient network technologies
