Applications are invited for an AC-TAP position in Gregers Rom Andersen group at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, Denmark.The position is permanent, and the starting date is 15 June 2024.Principal tasks carried out by the AC-TAP:

  • Conduct defined tasks in relation to basic research projects within the research team and deliver oral and written summaries of the related efforts
  • Conduct contract research for external partners and deliver oral and written summaries in relation to such collaborations
  • Conduct or contribute to all stages of structure determination using cryo-electron microscopy and crystallography
  • Conduct or contribute to all stages of functional evaluation using biophysical techniques and functional assays
  • Assist with defined tasks in relation to preparation of grant applications, scientific publications and other types of public dissemination

General tasks for the AC-TAP

  • Manage the safety work in the research team and participate in general safety work at the department and section level
  • Manage experimental equipment in collaboration with the research team and technical staff at the department
  • Handle ordering of consumables and payment of invoices for the research team
  • In collaboration at the section and department level manage common resources
  • Assist the main supervisor with supervision of project students at the levels BSc, MSc and PhD in the research team

Your profileAn applicant with a PhD degree in molecular biology, molecular medicine or a related field that has published in peer reviewed scientific journals is preferred.The applicant should have experience with protein science broadly and if possible, experience with structural and functional characterization of soluble and membrane bound proteins. Prior experience with protein expression in mammalian cell culture and cell based techniques more broadly is required.An applicant should be able to communicate in English orally and in written.Applicants with a strong record of fruitful collaboration in international research teams in will be preferred.Who we areThe AC-TAP will be affiliated to the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics.The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Aarhus University and comprises research within the areas of Plant Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, RNA Biology and Innovation, Protein Science, Cellular Health, Intervention and Nutrition. There are currently 75 full time scientific staff and 95 PhD students.
