ABOUT THE ROLE

The post holder will support the planning and promotion of activity within the Student Recruitment and Access Team, supporting Northumbria University Access and Widening Participation objectives. The role will involve organising and co-ordinating student representatives, monitoring student progress, and confirming event logistics. The post holder will also be responsible for updating monthly statistics, stock control, and resource management within the Access team. Employees are expected to work across the Global Marketing and Business service. 

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 therefore the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The role is based in Global Business and Marketing. We are a centralised professional services team located on the Newcastle city centre campus with close working links across the whole of the university community. The role will work closely with other members of the Student Recruitment and Access team. You will also work collaboratively with the Events, Admissions and Marketing teams.  

Within the Student Recruitment and Access team we deliver a range of services including;  

  • Dedicated specialist support to schools and colleges helping students through the university application process 
  • Supported entry schemes to support underrepresented groups in higher education   
  • Provide support for Northumbria events such as open days and applicant days  
  • Dedicated support to faculties to help drive recruitment to specific courses – including organising and running faculty taster sessions with schools and colleges 
  • Work collaboratively with other North East Universities to help support underrepresented students  

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in the role you will have: 

  • Working knowledge of good practice in administrative activities
  • Excellent IT skills and experience of working with various Microsoft packages inc Excel proficiency
  • The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues across the Service and University and with external stakeholders where relevant
  • Experience of working independently and dealing with unforeseen problems and circumstances
  • Level 2 qualification or higher (equivalent to 5 GCSEs Grades A-C) and relevant professional experience.
