Offer DescriptionWe are looking for a candidate who will conduct research in the field of orbital robotics as a part of the project entitled ‘Development, analysis and validation of optimal trajectory planning and adaptive control algorithms applicable for multibody dynamical systems operating in microgravity conditions’, financed by the Polish National Science Centre in the frame of the SONATA 18 program.RequirementsResearch Field Engineering » Mechanical engineering Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/Qualifications

  • Development of a dynamical model of a satellite-manipulator system equipped with momentum wheels
  • Development of optimal trajectory planning algorithms applicable for a manipulator mounted on a satellite
  • Implementation of mathematical models and algorithms in Matlab
  • Conducting numerical simulations using the Monte Carlo method
  • Conducting experiments on a planar air-bearing microgravity simulator
  • Analysis of simulation results and results of experiments
  • Studying literature related to orbital robotics and trajectory planning
  • Preparation of reports and research papers

Specific Requirements

  • PhD in ‘Automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies’ or other similar discipline. The PhD should be obtained no earlier than 7 years before the 1st of January 2024. This period can be extended in cases described in „Regulamin przyznawania środków na realizację zadań finansowanych przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki w zakresie projektów badawczych” (załącznik do uchwały Rady NCN nr 60/2022 z dnia 9 czerwca 2022 r.)
  • Research experience documented by at least one publication in peer-reviewed conference materials or in a scientific journal
  • Knowledge of the basics of robotics and mathematical methods
  • Programming skills in the Matlab/Simulink environment
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Good command of spoken and written English, including technical language
  • Strong motivation for scientific work, diligence and ambition

Conditions of employment:
