Applications are invited for an Administrative Assistant and PA to Director of Breakthrough Listen.

This post is a fixed term to 30th June 2026 with a possible extension.

We are recruiting for a Administrative Assistant and PA to Director of Breakthrough Listen (Dr. Andrew Siemon)  This is a fast paced roll that will form an integral part of the Astrophysics Administration team and the Breakthrough Listen Project.    

The successful candidate will provide PA support to Dr. Andrew Siemon (Director of Breakthrough Listen)  Along with specific responsibility for administration for the project .

The post-holder will also integrate into the current admin team and provide support when necessary.

The Post-holder must be able to deal with a wide range of tasks, many of which are highly confidential, sensitive or urgent.  They should be confident in writing, and demonstrate attention to detail. 

Experience of work within a scientific, or university environment, or of grant management, would be welcome.

A willingness to work outside normal hours to support public lectures.

To be considered at shortlisting you will be a flexible person with good time management skills and an efficient approach to diary management.  You will have previous experience working as an personal assistant in a large complex organisation.  You will be an advanced user of the Microsoft Office Suite and have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. In addition you will have meticulous attention to detail coupled with ability to work under pressure in a busy environment. 

Applicants should demonstrate experience of senior diary management, together with the ability to organize complex schedules, and evidence of tact and discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
