NXP Sophia Antipolis is moving to a new office in 2024.
The new office features an underground parking with limited visibility at the exit, which might be dangerous for bicycles and pedestrians going down the road in front of the building.
The goal of the internship will be to create a computer vision application based on a NXP SoC such as the i.MX 8M Plus, a camera, and the Vision Pipeline developed in the NXP Vision Technology Engineering Center (VTEC).
The application will detect pedestrians and cyclists in video frames and perform a trajectory estimation over time. An alert will be displayed by the application if a car is present at the parking exit and the predicted trajectory of a pedestrian or bicycle passes in front of the exit.
The models used for this application will be added to the NXP eIQ Model Zoo repository of machine learning models, and a demo will be added to the NXP NNStreamer examples.
If time allows, the intern will then imagine a full system solution based on NXP hardware to install the demo at the office. The intern will not be responsible for implementing the full system.
