Offer DescriptionAt the Institute for Research in Technology, we work on the development and application of state-of-the-art analytical modelling tools. These are used by both energy companies and government agencies to help them achieve their objectives in the current context of decarbonisation of the energy sectors.In particular, this position involves working with large energy companies on the analysis and modelling of various energy systems, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen.The work will introduce the candidate to a research topic that is in high demand in both academia and industry. You will join a large team of researchers with whom you will be in constant contact. You will develop tools for modelling and optimising different energy systems, as well as predicting prices and other energy assets, looking at the interdependencies between different energy systems.Requirements

  • The ambition to become a modelling expert with the additional aim of developing analytical skills in the energy sector.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics.
  • Fluency in Spanish and a high level of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of the energy sector will be positively valued, as well as programming skills in the languages most in demand in the industry: Matlab, R, Python, Visual Basic and GAMS.
  • Good team work skills.

What do we offer?Full-time contract to carry out research projects with complementary training activities.This modality allows the Research Assistant to establish a very close professional relationship with the companies with which he/she collaborates, thus nourishing his/her research with the experience accumulated during the projects.
Although this modality does not necessarily require to enroll in any program, the Research Assistant can apply for a PhD during the first two years.
The Research Assistant is hired each year for a maximum period of 6. If he or she is not enrolled in a PhD program the contract cannot exceed two years.
The gross salary for the first year is € 26.932,19 for the year 2024.
