About this role
Fundamental Equities (FE) sits within BlackRock’s Portfolio Management Group (PMG), which encompasses Fundamental and Systematic investing across Fixed Income, Equities and Multi-Asset Strategies. The Fundamental Equities business is a key division at BlackRock with over $228bn of assets under management, across 70+ strategies and over 240+ investment professionals. The Fundamental Equity teams (FE) use traditional analytics to pick stocks and assemble coherent, deliberate and diversified portfolios. Through cutting edge technology, sophisticated models and embedded research, our investment management approach provides superior performance for our clients and is an important part of the BlackRock brand.
Job Responsibilities

Support FE EMEA Office of the Chief Investment Officer by daily monitoring of sustainable characteristics and metrics as well as risk indicators of portfolios; work with fundamental analysts to review issuer level sustainability criteria both pre- and post-investment.

Partner with the Office of the CIO to provide regulatory oversight of sustainable investments across the FE platform.

Develop subject matter expertise, analytical techniques, and supportive tools and data that enable investors to identify and advise on sustainability issues relating to individual investment ideas and portfolio positioning. Consistently innovate upon existing FE tools to ensure the adoption of most robust technology (AI).

Foster a strong understanding of relevant industry/global standards and practices, policy and regulatory developments and advise on the implications for our business.

Work closely with partners across the organization, including fundamental analysts and portfolio managers in FE, BlackRock Investment Stewardship, Sustainable and Transition Solutions, and Product Strategy to understand their needs in relation to sustainable and transition investing, and create appropriate solutions and identify early opportunities, risks and / or gaps in the sustainability space for FE.
Skills/Knowledge Development

Develop a strong understanding of fundamental research and analytical processes across FE

Become proficient in internal tools to analyze and monitor portfolios.

Grow to be an sustainability subject matter expert and provide insight and perspective into our investment management process.

Build industry knowledge of sustainability risks, issues, trends and the developments of key industry players; keep abreast of how sustainability concerns impact the investment management industry.

Develop communication skills and apply these to professional relationships, presenting findings and concepts clearly to the investment team, deliver training and teach-in’s as necessary
Qualifications/Skills Required
-
1-2 years experience in financial services with a focus on equity markets and/or sustainable research and investing.

Excellent communication skills across both verbal and written mediums.

Strong project management skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.

Highly motivated, self-starter with an ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow to meet tight deadlines.

Ability to grasp quantitative concepts and their application to portfolio management.
-
Problem solving mentality with the willingness to speak up to improve process efficiency across tasks.
T echnical Competencies

Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel and ability to develop familiarity and skills using proprietary technology (Explore, Aladdin Compute, AdamX)

Python

SQL, Tableau, VBA experience a plus
