Apprentice Project Manager Assistant

Type of contract : apprenticeship contract (2 years) or internship contract (minimum 6 months)

Context

  • Nexans has initiated a major strategic shift from a cable generalist to a pure electrification player all along the value chain, from generation to usage through transport and distribution. Nexans shifts from volume growth focus towards value scale focus, with the ambition to develop innovation based on a deep understanding of customer usages, the need of sustainable development solutions and the development of differentiating and disruptive systems and solution offers, leveraging digitalisation and partnerships.
  • In line with this strategy, Nexans is willing to accelerate the scale up of the Acceleration Units (Nexans Solar Technologies, Nexans Machinery, Nexans Cryogenics, Nexans Superconductivity) which are technology incubators focussed on growing promising markets (LH2, Powering up cities due to the electrification trend, industrialisation of new cables and finally the solar energy) and shall play a role in the energy transition.

Purpose

  • The aim of the Acceleration Units is to support the energy transition with offers addressing current challenges due to the conventional ones.
  • Developing their offers and technologies in order to deploy it at scale with the optimal time to market while taking in account the return on investment and the satisfaction of stakeholders.
  • In order to achieve our objectives, the internal and external Project Management Excellence represents a key vector to ensure the on-time and high-quality project management performance and subsequently our financial performance and transformation.

Areas of responsibility

  • Main Overall areas of responsibility
  • He/She assists the Project Director to execute internal and external strategic projects
  • He/She leads some impactful projects validated by the Executive Management Team that shall contribute to the overall Business Group transformation and financial performance
  • He/She develops some processes and tools ensuring the on-time planning and monitoring excellence for the Project activities across the 3 Business Units.
  • Main tasks and activities
  • Contribute to the project structuration, planification of commercial project contracts
  • Interact with external stakeholder involved in the commercial project contacts for feeding the Project Director on the latest project situation
  • Lead some strategic initiatives validated by the Executive Management Team that shall support the change management with internal cross functional projects
  • Develop monitoring and KPI tools / Scorecards to ensure a constant awareness of the project status and expected performance
  • Issue on a frequent base reports on the project status that will support the Executive Management Team management
  • Assess / Develop processes to strengthen the organization maturity
  • Recommend improvement procedures that shall ensue the project organization excellence
  • Assist in the deployment of new IT solutions or processes

Key Interfaces

  • Internal Relations:
  • Collaborates with units including Nexans MCS Management, Project and Operational Teams, Nexans Corporate Marketing / Communication and IT Teams
  • External Relations:
  • Interacts with subcontractors and partners (Key Vendors)

Expected results

  • Execution excellence of project contracts and contributing to their financial profitability
  • Optimization of the existing processes thanks to the reinforcement or development of them
  • Accurate reports delivery to ensure a clear vision of the project status

Required skills, know how & experience

  • Technical skills :
  • Expertise in Project Management
  • Expertise or eas in developing PM tools on Teams or Excel or other IT Tools such as Power BI
  • Capacity in developing synthetic reports
  • Fluent English
  • Professional behavioral skills:
  • Results and performance orientated
  • Team player
  • Capacity for analysis, synthesis and structuring (process and reporting)
  • Capacity for discernment, decisions and sense of operational responsibilities
