THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity exists for experienced health professionals to join Birmingham City University’s largest Faculty: Health Education and Life Sciences. The Faculty is a thriving, innovative, and dynamic environment that aims to provide high-quality education for the health, social care, and public sector workforce. We are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic professionals to help provide this education.

You will be joining an existing team of academics, and will contribute to the taught delivery, assessment and support for students undertaking a variety of modules and courses across the Faculty.

We welcome applications from NMC registrants (nurses, midwives, and nursing associates); who can provide high quality evidence-based education experiences across a range of programmes. We would also welcome applications from educationalists with experience in foundation year teaching, learning and assessment. There are numerous posts available within the College of Nursing & Midwifery that we would welcome an application for.

We are particularly keen to receive applications from NMC registrants with experience in working with apprentices; midwifery colleagues qualified in the systematic physical examination of the newborn; and nurses from all fields, with expertise in research; advancing practice; leadership and practice focus support for students.

Whether you are an experienced academic, or progressing in your academic career, or new to academia, if you are a practicing NMC registrant with a passion for education, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

There has never been a better time to join us. Come and be part of the next exciting stage of our journey – apply now.

FACULTY OF HEALTH, EDUCATION AND LIFE SCIENCES

Through the work done in our Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences (HELS), we play a major part in ‘powering the front line’ of our essential health, education, and social care services within the city, throughout the region and across the country.

We train more than 2,700 healthcare professionals a year – the biggest provider of healthcare training in the West Midlands and one of the biggest in the UK. Our teaching is characterised by the practical, hands-on nature of what we offer – in industry-standard facilities.

We have invested around £10 million in the past two years into a new simulation centre at our City South campus home and a significant programme of work to the Alexander Stadium – home to the Commonwealth Games – where our sports courses will shortly move.

Our research too, is firmly focused on making an impact both at home and abroad. From tackling under-representation in professional cricket, to improving menstrual health, our researchers are looking at societal problems and making a lasting difference to them.
