based on full-time€ 4,060 – € 6,209Deadline26 Jun 2025We are looking for an excellent and enthusiastic scholar to join the section of Instructional Technology (IST). Your first responsibility is to strengthen the consultant role within the master programme Educational Science and Technology (EST). You will further develop this role in connection with the two other prominent roles of researcher and designer by making it a continuous thread throughout the EST curriculum. You will also focus on emerging and new technologies, such as AI, that can support the consultant role. Connections will be made with the Social Science and Humanities sector plan’s discipline investment in educational sciences within the theme “The school as a learning and professional organization.”Additionally, you will contribute to the research agenda of the IST section, which distinguishes itself with a focus on designing and evaluating innovative technology supported learning arrangements for learning STEM topics. The aim is to build an understanding of how educational psychological theory, instructional approaches such as inquiry learning, collaborative learning, gamified learning and self-regulated learning, and innovative technologies can be combined to create strong instructional designs that enhance student learning. Expertise in these or closely related fields is very welcome.Job description / Responsibilities:We contribute to teaching, research, and knowledge valorization. You will:
- contribute to the design of the master programme Educational Science and Technology (EST);
- (co-)teach in our leading master programmes Educational Science and Technology (EST) and Educational Psychology (EP), and our bachelor programme Psychology;
- guide students from these programmes in their graduation assignments;
- contribute to our research lines with an emphasis on designing and investigating the effectiveness of (adaptive) technology enhanced learning environments;
- acquire external funding for your research;
- contribute towards the supervision of PhD students;
- engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration with other groups in the department, the faculty and university;
- develop a network of academic research partners and educational institutions in the field of technology enhanced learning;
Your profileThe ideal candidate meets the following requirements:
- A background in either the learning sciences, educational sciences, or psychological sciences with specific expertise on the role that technology can play in learning and instruction;
- A PhD degree in a relevant field and experience in research, which is apparent from publications in reputable academic journals, presentations in international scientific conferences, and other academic activities;
- Potential for acquiring external funding and possessing the drive to apply for external projects;
- A University Teaching Qualification certificate (or equivalent), or willing to obtain this, and a real passion for, and the ambition to become a creative and effective teacher;
- A team player;
- Good communication skills and an excellent command of English (C1 or C2).
A good command of the Dutch language (or strong willingness to develop fluency in Dutch in the short term) to be able to collaborate with Dutch educational institutions.Our offer
- We offer you a contract for 1 year. With the intention of a one year with the prospect of extension for one year if financial conditions remain unchanged;
- Salary between € 4.060 and € 6.209 gross per month (in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities) bases on the job profile of Lecturer;
- 8,3% end-of-year bonus and 8% holiday allowance;
- Minimum of 29 holidays in case of full-time employment;

- The terms of employment are in accordance with the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement for Universities (CAO).
