For further information please follow the link below: http://www.tcd.ie/hr/assets/pdf/academic-hours-public-service-agreement.pdf Closing Date: 12 Noon (Irish Standard Time), 20th January 2025 Post Summary The Department of Sociology, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Sociology, specifically in the areas of sociology of conflict, war, and peace and social movements, to commence on 1 August 2025. The Department seeks applications from academics who will contribute significantly to research and teaching excellence in the Department’s streams in particular Power, Conflict and Resistance as well as Migration, Identities and Diversity: https://www.tcd.ie/sociology/research/ We invite applications from candidates who have a proven track record in sociological research on social movements, peace, war and social conflict, or similar fields. Social movement and conflict perspectives on migration, race and ethnicity are very welcome. Candidates should have a research portfolio that uses innovative qualitative or mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative). Purely quantitative portfolios will also be considered. We appreciate profiles that demonstrate the application of advanced and innovative mixed methods designs, social network analysis, comparative research designs, or innovative methodologies from digital social research. The appointee will be expected to contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching and supervision. Moreover, the appointee will engage in wider public and policy debates, as well as to foster collaboration with other Departments in the College and external research bodies. Candidates must hold a PhD in Sociology or Social Sciences and demonstrate a strong record of research, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful applicant will have an established record in teaching and research in the field of sociology and will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this field and in the interdisciplinary curricular teaching, supervision and mentoring.
