We are looking for a Data Science Engineer to join our Shopping Data & Models team. You will be tasked with developing and implementing machine learning models, AI tools, analytics applications. You will convert the billions of data points generated by our search and shopping applications into value for internal and external stakeholders by providing data models, leveraging state-of-art Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence over Big Data and sharing expertise and incorporating new techniques.

Your main responsibilities

  • Identify data needs for business and product teams, understand their specific requirements for metrics and analysis, and build efficient and scalable ML models and data pipelines to enable data-driven decisions across Amadeus.
  • Identify important questions and answer them with data.
  • Design, develop, and own data pipelines and ML models that power internal analytics for product and business teams.
  • Apply and generalize statistical and ML models on large datasets.
  • Develop applications or pipelines for data projects.
  • Design, analyze, and interpret the results of experiments.
  • Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources, develop relationships with production engineering teams to manage our data structures as the Shopping products evolve.
  • Develop strong subject matter expertise and manage the SLAs for those ML models.
  • Quality and Delivery.
  • Respond to stakeholder needs & issues, prioritize and ensure delivery. Own the process adherence and agility best practices.
  • Observe best practices and engineering excellence guidelines – documentation, code analysis, coverage test reports, error handling procedures, and performance monitoring instrumentation for application code.
  • In term – Mentor team members in developing technical craftsmanship skills & forming a good Engineering Community.
  • Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables – Estimation, prioritization and system design diligence.

About the ideal candidate

  • Master’s or Engineering School Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Data Engineering or Data Science: Python, R, or Scala, Kafka, SQL, Hadoop/Spark/Dataflow.
  • Operational excellence is important, as well as good knowledge of state-of-art SDLC, git, packaging, deployment.
  • Strong stakeholder management, Agile Process experience in addition to Hands-On Design, Architecture guidance skills, are a plus.
  • Preferred hands–on experience in designing and developing large scale data systems end to end.
  • Exposure to Internal and External cloud deployment & architectural models is a plus.
  • Exposure to BI tools, environments is a plus – Qlik, Tableau, etc.
