Job description
The Associate Director Production is responsible for the Production Department and will report to the VP Operations. This role is dynamic and involves a balance between technical expertise and management skills, with oversight of manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and leading teams in the development and execution of production strategies. This will require collaboration with other departments, working closely together with QA, maintenance, validation, engineering & facilities, Supply Chain and project management, to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely production of biotech products, with a strong focus on compliance and optimization.Your tasks
- Align with business goals while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency.
- Accurate planning and execution of all production activities by managing resource allocation, ensuring adequate staffing and equipment to meet project deliverables.
- Oversee day-to-day production operations, setting priorities, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- Responsible for reporting of production progress and operational issues. Responsible for accurate and prompt action or escalation in case of risks to the Master Production Schedule.
- Troubleshoot, resolve production issues and bottlenecks and conduct root cause analysis for any production failures or deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and mentor the production team providing coaching, performance reviews, and professional development opportunities to build and improve team capabilities.
- Foster a positive work environment to ensure high levels of engagement and productivity.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Introduce innovative production techniques and technologies and develop plans and proposals for investments.
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of operations and prepare and present regular performance reports.
- Ensure all production activities comply with GMP and other relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare for and support external and internal audits.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment complying to EHS guidelines.
- Generation and review of manufacturing batch records, appropriate operating procedure, work instructions and other quality management documentation.
You have
- HLO/BSc or MSc degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, biotechnology).
- At least 7 years of experience in working in a comparable role in a biopharmaceutical company with sound knowledge of USP and DSP processes and proven leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, solid understanding of regulatory requirements and quality management systems; knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies is a advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good command of the English and language, both verbally as in writing. Dutch is advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and drive change.
