Job Description:The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) offers the opportunity to build a research group in advanced and applied chemistry at an internationally esteemed department with an excellent infrastructure. You will become part of one of the three sections within the department, i.e. inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry or physical chemistry. The full-time position is open for candidates within all research areas of chemistry and is available from the fall of 2025. Candidates working within automatization, electrocatalysis, chemical energy storage, materials chemistry, protein engineering, and application of machine learning in chemistry are particularly encouraged to apply.Responsibilities and qualifications
The main purpose of the position is to strengthen and expand the department’s research and teaching experience in advanced and applied chemistry. You will work together with colleagues at the department as well as academic and industrial partners in Denmark and abroad.Your primary tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Develop and conduct independent and high-quality research in advanced and applied chemistry
- Attract external funding for your area of research
- Publish research results in high-impact journals
- Collaborate with academic and industrial research groups both nationally and internationally
- Teach bachelor and master courses at the department
- Conduct project management, supervision, and mentoring of BSc, MSc, and PhD students
You should have the following qualifications:
- Substantial track record of peer-reviewed publications in chemistry
- Experience in applying for and attracting external funding
- An interest in application-oriented research and industrial collaboration
- Significant writing and science communication skills
- Track record of teaching and dissemination at an advanced level
- Experience in supervising students at the BSc, MSc and PhD level
You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training.You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The department is responsible for teaching at the BSc, MSc as well as PhD level. The teaching activities are closely related to the active research projects of the department. The research is advanced chemistry ranging from relatively fundamental to almost applied research within chemistry with a polytechnic approach. The purpose is to explore the methods and concepts of modern chemistry which also relate to neighboring fields such as nanotechnology, physics, and biochemistry. Many research projects are aimed at applications within areas such as energy, pharmaceuticals, catalysis, and materials.
