Offer Description

The synthesis of bioactive compounds bearing unconventional functional groups and pharmacophores is a strategic task for pharmaceutical companies. In this context, the access to aza-analogues of sulfur derivatives is a great opportunity to obtain improved drug properties in terms of solubility, activity, target selectivity as well as patents expansion. The preparation of chiral optically active sulfinamidines represents a highly valuable synthetic challenge, allowing the access to an unexplored chemical space. The enantioselective synthesis of such derivatives would allow for assessing their configurational stability in various chemical environments. In the SulFourN2 project, we will unlock the access to enantiopure sulfinamidines. As part of an ANR project, a postdoctoral research position in organic chemistry is available to study an approach to enantiomerically pure sulfinamidines based on catalytic asymmetric nitrene transfers.

– Organic synthesis and development of catalytic methods. – Choosing appropriate synthesis techniques; developing procedures and operating methods – Validating data and interpreting results – Carrying out routine characterisation of products – Dissemination of results – Training and providing information on the risks associated with techniques and products.

This project is part of a collaboration between the ICSN and the University of Grenoble-Alpes. The successful candidate will be based at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles. The ICSN is a CNRS research unit specialising in chemistry and biology. It is part of the Université Paris-Saclay, which since 2015 has brought together research and teaching establishments in the south of Paris. The ICSN is located on the Gif-sur-Yvette campus and has a staff of around 125, including 60 permanent employees working in 3 buildings. Within the “Organic Synthesis and Catalytic Methods” department, the successful candidate will join the “Organometallic Catalysis and Synthesis of Functional Molecules” team, which consists of 2 researchers, 1 postdoctoral fellow and 2 CDD/doctoral candidates. He/she will report to the team leader. He/she will work directly with the team leader and in collaboration with the other members of the team.
