The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join Hampshire’s Inclusion Support Service. You will focus on supporting the most vulnerable children and young people to engage in education and learning and to improve school attendance. Having an open mind about what children may be experiencing and how they are coping will be an important part of the role and will draw upon many skills.
You will be an integral part the School Attendance Support Team and be a contact point for attendance queries from schools, parents and other agencies, either by telephone or email. You will maintain a database of all referrals for pupils who are unable to attend school, produce reports and be expected to take on case work involving direct support. The role will involve direct online liaison with families, schools and other professionals as well as online attendance at education planning and other relevant meetings.
As an Attendance Support Worker you will need to be reliable, demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, and understand the need to maintain confidentiality and GDPR regulations. The ability to work with sensitivity and humour in this fast paced and often demanding role is highly important. You will have strong organisational and communication skills, be flexible, highly organised with a professional attitude and enjoy working within a busy team. Competent IT/keyboard and administrative skills are essential. Experience of working in a school environment preferable.
This exciting role will involve working within Hampshire’s Inclusion Support Service and developing strong links with other services supporting children.
Please note the role may require you to travel to some locations which may be away from public transport routes.
We can offer great flexible working options for this role; although you will be based at Elizabeth Court II, Winchester, some of this role can be carried out remotely but with some office-based working required to support business needs.
Travel Requirements
You may be required to visit other locations within Hampshire (and the Isle of Wight or other local authority), and therefore need to have the ability to travel, as necessary.
