You’ll work as part of a fun, hardworking team who takes ownership of their work and loves to celebrate successfully delivering wins for our customers and for Compass.About the Role & TeamAs a Business Analyst, specialising in the Education Software space, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between the technical aspects of software development and the specific needs and goals of educational institutions.Your primary responsibility will be to analyse business processes, identify areas for improvement, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement software solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative efficiency within the education sector.You will collaborate with product owners, partners, and stakeholders to help define technical business requirements which will ensure a smooth and a successful introduction and rollout of the Compass platform in the UK, while also assisting our engineers in building our platform to suit a range of school and jurisdictional requirements.What you’ll do:

  • Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders, including educators, administrators, and internal Compass team members, to elicit, analyse, and document business requirements to ensure that customer problems are front and centre.
  • Business Process Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of existing business processes within educational institutions to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Solution Design: Collaborate with the Product Owner, software developers, UI/UX designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into comprehensive solution designs, including user stories, wireframes, and functional & non functional specifications.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams where required, facilitating communication, managing expectations, and ensuring alignment throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Testing and Validation: Develop test cases, conduct user acceptance testing (UAT), and validate software solutions to ensure they meet the needs and expectations of end-users.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users and Compass team members, to ensure successful adoption of Compass solutions as well as supporting our onboarding teams to ensure the best possible customer experience.
  • Industry Research: Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements within the education technology (EdTech) space, and leverage this knowledge to inform product development and strategic decision-making.

RequirementsAbout YouYou will have:

  • A passion for problem solving with proven experience in business / technical analysis to create simple solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong knowledge of software development processes, procedures, limitations, challenges and agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • A background in Education software or working in schools would be an advantage to understand the accounting concepts employed in some of our core modules.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement, enabling you to engage with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of an organisation both internally and externally.
  • Critical thinking – the ability to understand and analyse customer problems, find solutions, drive outcomes and work collaboratively with others to solve business challenges.
  • Excellent listening & communication skills – requirement gathering is a key part of the role, so being able to ask the right questions and understand the information received is very important.
  • Excellent written communication to ensure high quality creation of documents such as use cases and business requirement documents.
  • Highly Advantageous: Technical experience with SQL, knowledge of Mongo db and systems integration frameworks such as LISS.
