Job Description:Due to continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to work within the existing team of Business Analysts on the ongoing development and support of key operational applications for the Industry Services (IS) division of Intertek.Key Requirements:Essential

  • Some experience working in an IT development environment and understanding of the full project life cycle including analysis, requirement definition, testing, delivery and support.

Desirable

  • Experience working with external software developers in a Rapid Application Development environment as well as offshore teams
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL environments and be able to produce data extracts and on-demand reporting

About The OpportunityYou will work within the existing team of Business Analysts on the ongoing development and support of key operational applications for the Industry Services (IS) division of Intertek. The IS division contributes some USD $330 million / GBP £ 270 million in revenue to Intertek and the majority of this is managed by the dedicated EVOLUTION2 application.Intertek Industry Services division operates several key software applications.

  • Evolution2 is the main operational process platform and manages the inspection and audit process from client contract entry right through to invoicing and payroll. The system is rolled out across 50-plus countries globally and has approximately 800 office-based users plus several thousand field-based inspectors.
  • eReporting Pro provides the field inspectors with a tablet/laptop-based data capture application. The data is then formatted into a Word document, and this is supplied to our customers as their inspection report. The eReporting application is fully integrated with Evolution2 which drives the visit process and captures the resulting visit-related data for onward processing.
  • In addition, there are several other off the shelf applications which the current support team interface with such as, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Power Business Intelligence Reporting and SUN accounts.

Key activities:Assist in the ongoing testing and support of our core Evolution2 application

  • Gather requirements definitions, progressing these through to written documents that form the basis of ongoing development requirements.
  • Work with a wider team of Regional Experts to gather request details from end users.
  • Liaison with offshore software suppliers on a day-to-day basis during the development and testing phase.
  • Attending scheduled and ad-hoc progress meetings.
  • Software release testing and documentation of results
  • Prepare in advance for new releases and rollouts to anticipate customer inquiries.
  • Prepare software release notes and update training materials as required.
  • Carry out testing post deployment to confirm that applications are operational and all new code has been deployed to plan

Reporting

  • Provision of ad-hoc reports using pre-defined SQL queries
  • Develop amended or new reports as required by the business

Support & Training

  • Act as a Level 3 support function and escalate issues to 3rd party support when appropriate via defined escalations procedures.
  • Will support end users via telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner and perform initial application support.
  • Will be required to work on other ad-hoc projects as and when required.
  • Will be required to work weekends, on an ad-hoc monthly basis, to cover support for server maintenance and patching as well as code releases
