Our University has been beneficiary of several MSCA-PF in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.The Marie Sklodowska Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship is one of funding scheme of the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme, dedicated to excellent research promoting international mobility, as well as interdisciplinary and intersectoral exchanges.MSCA fellowship grant provides a competitive salary plus mobility and family allowances if applicable, as well as a contribution to cover research, training and networking costs. The research projects will have 2- or 3-years duration.Selected candidates will be provided with special support for proposal writing and development.The University of Genoa will organize in May the fifth edition of the Masterclass MSCA@UniGe. Selectedcandidate researchers will have the opportunity to attend a 2-days online intensive training and coaching course on how to write a successful proposal.   • AI Attacks and Defenses: mechanisms behind evasion and poisoning attacks against artificial intelligence. The former produce carefully-crafted input manipulations that cause errors in the system. The latter study how to inject samples in the training data to cause a high error or specific malicious behaviors in the model after training.
  • Secure AI for Cybersecurity: AI-driven cybersecurity solutions to detect threats and vulnerabilities. Applications include the study of AI-based web security solutions to detect attacks coming from malicious users, malware detectors able to block these threats before they are executed, and spam filtering tools used to block undesired and potentially dangerous emails in the users’ electronic mailboxes.
  • Large Language Models Security: techniques to assess the robustness of Large Language Models, integrating security measures to ensure that these powerful tools can be safely and effectively used.

Research GroupThe sAIfer Lab is a virtual lab founded to strengthen and expand the activities of the two founding partners, the PRA Lab and the SmartLab, in the strategic areas of AI and Cybersecurity and create added value for all the partners and stakeholders of the Universities of Cagliari and Genoa. sAIfer Lab research fits in the so called Pasteur’s quadrant, conjugating the search for fundamental understanding of scientific problems with practical use for society in fields of cybersecurity, biometrics, and industry. The Lab has a special focus on the development of safe and secure AI systems that ensure that no unintentional or intentional harm can occur to people, IT systems, society, and critical infrastructures. Unintentional harms due to the lack of safety of AI systems to unexpected situations.
