These fellowships are intended for the employment of doctoral research personnel, with an outstanding track record, for a period of 5 years, on a full-time basis, supplemented with additional funding for the execution of the research activity.IMDEA Water belongs to the network of 7 R&D Centers created by the Community of Madrid, with the legal status of a foundation. The purpose of IMDEA Water is to generate knowledge to provide solutions that contribute to the water sustainability of the planet. To this end, it aims to create an efficient model for the development of science and technology in collaboration with the productive sector, with the objective of being a benchmark for scientific and technical production in the water sector. The Membrane Technology Group ( ) is a multidisciplinary research group focused on implementing membrane technology from the circular economy approach in the water sector. The group addresses this research challenge by studying the entire life cycle of membrane processes with the following research lines:
- Preparation of novel and second-generation membranes. In this research line the group is focused on the development of tailor-made membranes with the addition of nanoparticles, porous materials and recycled polymers that enhance the performance of membranes for water treatment.
- Implementation of membrane technology for water treatment. In this research line the group currently studies the use of pressure driven membranes and membrane bioreactors for wastewater treatment with special focus on the removal of emerging contaminants such as pharmaceutical compounds micro and nanoplastics as well as antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes.
- Development of alternative end-of-life membrane management routes. In this research line the group studies the direct and indirect recycling of membranes as well as the recovery of polymers for further reintroduction in the water sector.
Requirements for the candidates:
