Care and Support Assistant

Colchester

£11.37

We’re seeking Care and Support Assistants to join our Rapid Response Team.

You will be providing personal, practical and emotional support to customers living in their own homes, providing personalised care and support that enables encouraging customers to reach and maintain an optimum level of independence.

We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression. The role of Care and Support Assistant will include:

-Providing a high quality, personalised care, and support service
-Delivering expert support to customers including the sensitive delivery of personal care and managing medication e.g. personal hygiene, continence management, dressing
-Encouraging customers to lead fulfilling lives by building positive relationships and developing hobbies and interests
-Managing nutrition and hydration needs
-Participating in training as directed to ensure SSL is delivering safe, effective and caring services
-Undertaking regular supervisions in line with SSL’s policies and procedures
-Participating and contributing to staff team meetings
-To ensure that all records are kept up to date to ensure compliance
-Record all actions/tasks undertaken at each visit on the care plan sheet
-Take account of and regularly review health and safety hazards and risks within the customer’s home
-To liaise with family members, friends and other professionals as and when appropriate
-Promoting safe practices and undertaking risk assessments
 

Skills and experiences:

-Personalised approach, ideally with experience within a similar, care related role
-Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong “can-do” attitude
-Strong organisational skills, as well as functional literacy and numeracy
-Good communication skills, allowing you to build relationships with customers
-Ability to react quickly to changing priorities whilst working to deadlines and targets
-NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards is essential
-Travel is a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is essential
