Job Description

Mission:

The Category Buyer is responsible for purchasing parts/materials for factories in the region. He/she is responsible for purchasing performance by managing a set of suppliers while supporting the execution of purchases in the factories.

He/she is responsible for the direct management of supplier relationships or the overall management of categories for strategic suppliers. He/she is also responsible for implementing the category strategy in the region by developing the Annual Procurement Operation Plan (APOP) at the regional level.

What will you do?

Supplier management

He/She manages the global relationship between Schneider & the suppliers where he/she is the leader for :

  • Build the annual supplier business performance improvement plan (Productivity, Supply Chain & Quality performance)
  • Organize & lead suppliers management meeting (Business Reviews, Negotiations, Innovation Meetings)
  • Lead supplier’s negotiation in the regions incl; RFQ process and e-auctions.
  • Contribute to supplier qualification with Supplier assessment
  • Detect potential suppliers risk and build & own the associated corrective action plan.
  • Manage specific initiatives with the suppliers (Sustainability Green Solutions and Decent Work programs, ISO26000, DPO).
  • Leading contractual supplier relationship (Market award letters, Supplier Logistics/Quality Agreements, MSA)
  • Administrate the supplier account in SAP MdG, SSP SRM, invoice disputes, price updates, productivity reporting

He/She supports the Strategic Supplier Leader by providing all necessary inputs & requirements to drive the supplier performance for the region.

Category APOP:

Taking the category strategies into account, he/she builds & drives the category Annual Procurement Operational Plan validated by Global Category & plant.

He/She contributes to the definition of the Supplier Orientation Charts (SoC) and support deployment through the PPMs in the Plants.

Builds together with Global Category & SQLD team the supplier development plan and supports the deployment from supplier side.

Performance:

  • Service: he/she is accountable for the supplier’s Delivery performance. Monitors the U-BOL (or ESSR where not transitioned yet), supports or drives on supplier side the right action plan to solve short term crisis, and manage mid to long term process improvements. Track and manage U-OTD, S-OTD & S-OTDc.
  • Quality: he/she is accountable to for the suppliers Quality performance. Supports the Supplier Quality Development team in the deployment with the suppliers of the Robustness program. Monitors the S-DPMe and supports or drives the action plan on supplier side to solve short term crisis and mid to long term process improvements.
  • Productivity: The Category Buyer is accountable, with the support of Global Category, Material Productivity Leader and Procurement Project/Plant leaders, for the material productivity of the part numbers in his/her scope :
  • Define which levers to engage to reach productivity objectives
  • Ensure the negotiation coverage, their results and price implementation.
  • Defines & prepare the best negotiation drivers and tactics and leads or contributes to supplier negotiations.
  • Identify thru suppliers or category management input new actions to reach the COS, QVE productivity targets.
  • Organize and lead the innovation days ( QVE Days, Technical Reviews ) to create productivity with alterative solutions
  • Prepare the business cases/COS templates for supplier change actions and drives & supports the MPL for the execution phase ( Contract review, PPEP..).
  • Support the project leaders of SBO (Supply Base Optimization) and complex CoS (Change of Suppliers) actions from supplier relationship management standpoint.
  • Report all productivity actions in required Tools ( I-save, etc ).
