Salary: up to £37.89 per hour

The University of Sheffield International College is seeking a Chemistry tutor to teach on our Foundation Level Chemistry module. 

The post holder will be part of the College’s Science Team. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Chemistry tutor will be responsible for teaching Chemistry, a Level 3 module delivered to groups of international students, in both classroom and laboratory-based sessions.  The teaching role includes marking assessments and the provision of feedback to students. 

The successful candidate will be competent in the use of IT skills related to teaching, including the use of VLEs.

The post holder will also act as a module coordinator.  This involves leading the teaching team, carrying out Quality Assurance procedures, and ensuring that teaching materials are up to date.  The role also requires the creation of both formative and summative assessments.

The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly as part of a busy team, contribute to meetings, communicate effectively with colleagues, and work to deadlines.

ABOUT YOU

  • A degree in Chemistry or a related discipline. We would consider a loosely related discipline for a candidate with relevant teaching experience.

  • Experience teaching Chemistry or a related discipline in UK Higher Education, Further Education or Sixth form.

  • Experience of assessment marking at a minimum of RQF level 3 or above (A-level/  Foundation level)

  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

  • Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills, using a Virtual Learning Environment (e.g. Blackboard)
