Never has there been a more important time for trees and forests to help tackle the climate
emergency and provide a much-needed sanctuary for people and wildlife. There is a government
commitment to creating 7,500 hectares of woodland per year across England by 24-25. This
acceleration in planting will contribute to ambitions to be net zero by 2050.

Forestry England are supporting delivery of these ambitions by expanding the nation’s forests
through the Forestry England
Woodland Partnership
, (opens in a new window), which aims to acquire 950ha and plant 690ha
in 24/25. This is supported by the Nature for Climate Fund.

The Woodland Creation Civil Engineer role is a varied and exciting opportunity to support the
delivery of Forestry England’s woodland creation programme. You will help ensure the
infrastructure for new woodlands is futureproof and offers value for money. This may include
roading, drainage, recreational facilities and utilities at a number of woodland creation sites
across England.

This role will include undertaking detailed civil engineering design work on multiple projects,
providing guidance and technical advice to colleagues across the country, project managing the
delivery of design and physical works, and contributing to the master planning of our civil
engineering Woodland Creation delivery programme.
