How you’ll make a difference

You will make a difference by developing and managing partnership and delivery projects as part
of the Council’s response to the Climate and Nature Emergency.

The Council and our partners are working together to scale up and accelerate new programmes and
projects to deliver nature recovery, improve adaption and resilience to the changing climate,
and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For the initial 2 years, you will be responsible for an
exciting new partnership programme focussed on nature recovery across the Lower Severn Vales of
South Gloucestershire. Join our team and play your part in this vital work.

What will you be doing?

  • In the role you will work with services across the council, partners, local communities and
    contractors, to develop, manage and deliver work priorities and projects of the councils
    Climate and Nature Emergency Action Plan.
  • You will be responsible for project development, management and delivery, including budget
    management, procurement, monitoring and reporting back to funders, as well as acting as the
    councils point of contact for projects.
  • Working closely with partners, you will be responsible for project monitoring and
    evaluation, including achieving and tracking project milestones, preparing project
    communications and ensuring that elected Members, officers, partners, and funders are briefed
    and kept updated on progress.
  • In the role you will be required to keep abreast of national and sub regional policy issues
    and changes, and represent the Council at Officer level.
  • You can expect to prepare reports for decisions and make presentations to Council,
    Committee, Officer, and external meetings and to share and present project learning and outputs
    through local, regional and national networks and forums.

What we need from you

  • It is essential that you hold a relevant professional environmental qualification or
    equivalent and have equivalent relevant professional experience in policy/strategy development,
    project management and partnership working.
  • We require you to have a thorough understanding and experience of the application of
    relevant policy and practice in relation to carbon management, renewable energy and climate
    resilience.
  • You must have the ability to analyse, interpret and communicate complex data and technical
    information and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • It is important that you have experience of planning and managing multidisciplinary
    projects and project teams of internal and external stakeholders with the ability to work
    collaboratively to facilitate and bring about change
  • A requirement is for you to have excellent written and verbal communication skills with
    ability to explain complex information to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
  • It is essential that you are able to organise and facilitate successful meetings and
    events, be well organised and self-motivated, with ability to cope with competing demands,
    identifying priorities, and working to targets and deadlines.
