Ref: BI017
Salary: £48,785 – £51,765 (Inclusive of London

Dacorum Borough Council has recognised the need to address the effects of climate change and
has set itself an ambitious target of becoming a carbon neutral council by 2030.

We are working on many projects across services to achieve our net zero targets, but we
recognise that there is more work to be done. Dacorum declared a climate emergency in 2019 and
published its Climate and Ecological Emergency (CEE) Strategy in 2022. The position holder will
play a key role in managing a programme of projects which will help the council reach its
targets.

We are seeking an experienced programme manager who is passionate about addressing the climate
and ecological emergency and has had previous experience managing programmes in this sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, climate programme manager to engage with
all areas of the council to achieve DBC’s Net Zero targets.

Your key skills will be:

1. Leadership of the CEE Programme: Manage the CEE Programme, overseeing and managing multiple
project boards to ensure alignment with Dacorum’s CEE ambitions and successful project delivery
across services.

2. Expertise in Project Management: Possess a comprehensive understanding of project management
best practices within the Transformation Service and the broader sector, providing guidance and
consultation to teams on programme and project methodologies.

3. Gap Analysis and Prioritisation: Conduct gap analysis to identify missing projects within
the programme and prioritise climate projects based on various factors.

4. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with customers and stakeholders through consultations and
public forums, effectively managing discussions on contentious issues and difficult decisions.

5. Team Management and Development: Delegate tasks appropriately, support and provide training
to project team members, and ensure effective communication and collaboration among team
members.

A relevant check will be undertaken as appropriate with the Disclosure and Barring
Service to ensure that the successful candidate has no relevant
convictions.
The deadline for applications will be midnight on the closing date
shown in the advert details.

Closing date: 15 April 2024

Proposed interview dates: 25 and 26 April 2024
