Job title:

Climate-related tipping points in forest ecosystems

Company:

Job description

Offer DescriptionThe researcher will quantify the biogeochemical effects of climate-related regime shifts in forest ecosystems over the past decades using global satellite products of carbon stock and fluxes. The resulting impact estimates will be used in combination with forest resilience indicators and forest structural/compositional properties within a data-driven framework to explore possible nature-based solutions aimed at enhancing the long-term stability of forest ecosystems and minimizing the impacts of climate tipping events. The effectiveness of such adaptation strategies will be evaluated under future global warming and tipping event scenarios using land-climate models. Outcomes of the research activity will contribute to a global-scale identification of workable pathways to enhance the effectiveness of land-based mitigation policies. The work will be conducted within the Horizon CLIMTIP project in a young and multi-disciplinary team with a wide network of international collaborations.Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsAdditional InformationEligibility criteriaPHD in the research’s fieldEligible destination country/ies for fellows:
