Job description

The successful candidate will conduct Neuroscience Clinical Research for both commercial and non-commercial studies in Parkinson’s Disease and related disorders. The candidate will be required to support the delivery of the studies as a clinical role with clinical assessments including MDS-UPDRS, MDS-NMS, CSI and neurological and general clinical examinations.  

You will work alongside PhD fellows and other clinical research fellows for these projects and will be based at King’s College London and King’s College Hospital Parkinson’s Foundation Centre of Excellence. You will be responsible for organizational aspects of the projects, meetings deadlines and attending meetings both in person and virtually. You will be expected to write articles for publications and present data in national and international congresses.

You will have a background in neurology with full GMC registration with a license to practice and will have particular interest and experience in neurodegenerative diseases and movement disorders. You will attend clinics with Professor Chaudhuri and will be resourceful and able to act on the study recruitment strategies. You will have excellent organisation and clinical skills, good inter-personal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting.

This post will be offered on fixed term contract to 01/12/2023

This is a part-time post – 10% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities

  • Ethics committee approval/communications  
  • Attend Outpatient Movement Disorders clinics
  • Screening of patients for eligibility
  • Signing of informed consent form (as appropriate to local policy & practice and GDPR)
  • Assessing participant’s compliance
  • Clinical assessments (validated scales and questionnaires)
  • Wearable sensors recordings (Parkinson’s KinetiGraph)
  • Ensuring the welfare and medical care of study subjects
  • Completion and return of Case Report Forms and providing responses to data queries
  • Documentation of adverse events
  • Timely Serious Adverse Events reporting
  • Conduct of the study in compliance with the protocol and required governance regulations and guidelines, as well as local policies/procedures
  • Completion of study visits
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Papers publications
  • Data presentation in national and international congresses

Skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Registered Specialist with a license to practice (by the start date for international candidates)
  • Neurology Training or clinical Neurology Experience
  • Experience in neurodegenerative diseases and movement disorders

Essential criteria

  • Competence in performing neurological examination
