Job Summary:

I-X’s vision is to deliver transformational research, teaching and innovation, co-locating staff, students, and industry, to build a new model of co-discovery and co-creation in the digital space. I-X is based in the I-Hub at Imperial’s White City Campus, which itself is part of the wider White City Innovation District, including cutting-edge start-ups, scaleup companies and industry leaders. I-X looks at the next wave of technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), advanced robotics, augmented/virtual reality, and health informatics.

In this role, you will be a core member of I-X’s operations team, leading on the delivery of key internal and external communications and engagement activities, including I-X’s social media presence, digital and media print production, coordination of website content and design, event promotion and internal engaging events and content that promote the work of the initiative. You will be working for a variety of audiences including academics, researchers, students, the public, policy makers and industry specialists.

We are looking for a proactive, creative and motivated self-starter who can effectively juggle multiple responsibilities and work to tight deadlines. With strong communication skills, excellent organisational skills and an interest in shaping a new initiative, you will use your people skills to encourage collaboration across I-X with other College networks and beyond.

You will be a flexible team player who is committed to growing I-X’s physical and online community by being and dynamic work environment that will attract people to come together and collaborate.

Duties and responsibilities

External communications

  • Create engaging content for and maintain I-X’s website, ensuring copy is fresh, compelling and current. Manage the ongoing development of the website to reflect the changing needs of a growing initiative.
  • Develop and deliver communications plans and campaigns to showcase I-X’s work, impact, people, and priorities.

Internal communications

  • Facilitate and coordinate effective collaboration and knowledge sharing through a number of internal communications initiatives including MS Teams, email round-ups and newsletters.
  • Work with the central Communications division to raise I-X’s profile across College.

Events

  • Plan, manage and deliver events including a seminar series, socials, visits and delegations.
  • Create marketing materials including social media posts, event listings, banners, posters and flyers.

Other responsibilities

  • Build I-X’s reputation by championing its brand and ensuring its correct use across all mediums and outputs.
  • Build a portfolio of creative content including photography and videography to showcase I-Xworking space, community events and activities.

Essential requirements

Education

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Experience using content management systems and previous responsibility for editing, updating and overseeing web content
  • Experience planning, organising and delivering events of a range of size and complexity, from workshops to symposiums

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and skills of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop
  • Interest in AI and the digital world

Skills & Abilities

  • A high standard of written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to tailor communications to different channels and audiences.

Further Information

Hybrid working may be considered for this role.  Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
