Job Purpose

 

 

The purpose of this employment is to support Oxfam Pilipinas and the different portfolios through the delivery of high-quality internal communications materials and knowledge products, effective management of information, and timely and accurate reporting during emergencies and crises.

 

 

 

 

What we are looking for:  SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, ATTRIBUTES AND VALUES:

 

 

Essential

  • A college degree in a relevant subject, such as media and communications and/or international development or social policy
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a communications role, with at least three years of demonstrated expertise of working in an international non-government organization
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of information management systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Filipino
  • Proven management skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of development and humanitarian issues and the political, socio-economic, and environmental context in the Philippines
  • Relevant experience in building the capacity in terms of communications to Oxfam Pilipinas and its partner organizations
  • In-depth knowledge of multimedia design and use of communications software (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere)
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating gender and diversity issues into influencing work
  • Well-developed analytical and strategic planning skills with the ability to influence the organization’s country operating strategy and to act within a regional framework

 

 

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in development communications, journalism or any related discipline
  • Previous experience in a similar context, especially in communications and media for a humanitarian and development agency or an international non-government organization
  • Understanding and familiarity with fundraising via digital platforms

 

 

Other

  • This post will be Manila-based with occasional travel to project sites

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Communications and Information Management

  • Develops high-quality and compelling information, education and communication materials, which include but is not limited to annual reports, electronic newsletters, case stories, brochures, leaflets, reports, infographics, and audio-visual presentations
  • Ensures that all communication materials are gender-sensitive and aligned with the Oxfam branding and ethical content guidelines, policies, and protocols
  • Leads the collection and management of multimedia assets accessible in shared networks and Oxfam’s website and other digital repository platform
  • Increases the visibility of the organization and its influencing work by supporting the regular and strategic updating across Oxfam’s digital platforms
  • Provides communications support in times of humanitarian emergencies and crises such as the development of situation reports, and other humanitarian response communication needs
  • Supports the packaging of research and knowledge products and ensures that they are accessible and understandable to the general public
  • Support the PAC team in providing the necessary administrative and organizing support, including liaising with partners and consultants
  • Supports in organizing public mobilization and other internal and external influencing and campaign activities
  • Coordinates the sign-off processes for some communication products

 

Organizational Support

  • Provides technical advice and support to the organization and its partners in all aspects related to branding and communications
  • Coordinates with communication focal from other Oxfam affiliates, country programs, and regional offices
  • Supports the capacity development of Oxfam Pilipinas staff and partners on communications and information management

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to other tasks and functions of the Policy Advocacy and Communications Team

Contract Length:    One Year Fixed Term
