The service provides high quality, evidence based care to around 2,200 women and babies per year. You will have midwifery experience across all areas of the service. You will be responsible for ensuring the Midwifery workforce has the skills and capabilities to deliver this exciting agenda.Main duties of the jobThe post is designed to strengthen the midwifery contribution to the quality and safety agenda for the woman and families of Kings Lynn and surrounding areas.You will provide clinical leadership, advice and support to all colleagues providing midwifery care in primary and secondary care settings. She will be an expert practitioner and source of expertise for the multi-professional and organisational team involved in providing health care for pregnant women from vulnerable groups.The consultant midwife will contribute some time to midwifery clinical practice. The expectations of this post will be met through professional leadership, consultancy education and training research, audit and evaluation practice and service development.The focus of the role is to use midwifery expertise to define the role of the midwife incorporating preconception care, health promotion services, postnatal examination mental health and women’s health.Work closely with the safeguarding and other specialist midwives in support of services to pregnant teenagers, smoking cessation, the effects and implications of domestic violence, drug and alcohol misuse, breastfeeding rates parenting skills and child protection.In addition the consultant midwife will support the team to lead continuity of care for vulnerable women and may hold a small personal caseload to whom they will provide continuity of care.About usThere’s never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. - Post registration qualification in specialist field/ Masters degree or equivalent
- Educational qualification in adult education or equivalent
- PhD taught doctorate, or willingness to do so

- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate clinical care and act accordingly
- Evidence of recent CPD
