The service is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in forensic psychiatry to work within the low secure male mental illness inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient community service in York.The service is open to part-time and flexible working. The final program of activities will be worked out with the post holder on a ratio of 7.5 direct clinical care to 2.5 supporting professional activities.Main duties of the jobAre you committed to providing high quality patient care?   • Act as consultant psychiatrist for about 20 outpatients
  • Provide access assessments on behalf of the Humber Coast and Vale secure provider collaborative.
  • Provide risk assessment and management advice for colleagues in acute services.
  • It is anticipated that the frequency of assessments would be about 2 per month.
  • Provide excellent clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, supporting service users to achieve optimal mental wellbeing, reduced risk of offending, social inclusion and transition into the community.
  • Deliver high quality efficient and effective care for service users working collaboratively in a trauma informed collaborative way.
  • Teach, train and supervise junior medical staff and other professionals
  • Comply with the requirements of the GMC and Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • The post holder will join the Tees Esk and Wear Valley general adult on-call rota.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential

  • MBBS
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practice
  • CCT or CESR in Forensic or WAA psychiatry (with appropriate experience) or inclusion on the GMC specialist register anticipated within the next 6 months
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
  • Approved under Section 12 (2)
  • Approved Clinician status (may be anticipated within the next 6months)
