to the jobWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Customs manager to join our dynamic and high-demanding global Customs Affairs team. This team is growing towards ten people strong, and resides within the Tax & Customs department, part of the larger Finance organization within ASML. The Tax & Customs department is responsible for the fiscal and customs affairs in all jurisdictions where ASML operates. Your direct colleagues are located in the Head Office in the Netherlands (Veldhoven) as well as in Korea, Taiwan and the United States.In the role of Customs manager, you will be front-seated to design and shape ASML’s compliant global customs processes. In order to achieve these goals, you will work in close collaboration with other tax experts (transfer pricing, value added tax, etc.), finance experts as well as with colleagues from ASML’s export control and customs filing/operational departments.You will be responsible for managing customs-focused workstreams on larger ASML projects supporting our business growth and increasing levels of complexity, as well as supporting efficiency improvement projects focusing dedicated to HS nomenclature, origin.In a nutshell, if you want to act at the forefront of the Semiconductor industry and enjoy pushing things forward (project skills) whilst deepening your core customs technical skills, then joining ASML and its Customs Affairs team might be something for you.This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.Role and responsibilitiesDesign, shape, support and execute the global tax and customs strategy of the ASML group of companies cross-geographies;Lead customs related projects;Support HS classification and country of origin business processes and continue to invest in the underlying core technical skills;Set compliance standards for customs at a global scale and ensure that these are adhered to whilst closely cooperating with our stakeholders in the business and operations;Stay abreast of changes in trade regulations and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.Provide efficient customs advice to senior management based on expected future developments;Manage customs audits and investigations, addressing any issues promptly;Develop and deliver training programs on customs compliance for internal teams.Education and experienceAcademic Master in Law, Taxation, Supply Chain management or similar knowledge through working experience of minimum 12 years within a multinational company, law firm or Big4 consulting firm.In-depth knowledge of and experience with HS classification and country of origin. Affinity with complex machines/ products and/ or technical aspects thereof is preferred.Preferable some notion of ERP and/or trade management software.SkillsAbility to function well within a multicultural, dynamic, multi-timezone environment;Great interpersonal social skills.Strategic mindset while having the ability to translate strategy into actionable objectives (short, medium, and long-term);Good Project and time management skills.
