Galway Office 

Rent The Runway established its European Technology Hub in Galway in April 2019.  Based in the historic Claddagh area of the city, the growing team in Galway tackles core technology challenges and influences the next generation of services critical to Rent The Runway’s success and continued growth. 

The Galway office is Rent the Runway’s first international office outside the US and enables the company to significantly expand its Software Engineering, Product Development, Machine Learning Engineering and Data Science footprint. Rent The Runway’s Galway-based employees have the opportunity to grow their careers across several roles and career paths in Technology.

About the role:

Data Scientists at Rent the Runway focus on creating data products that have tangible effects on our customer experience and internal operations. You will own projects end to end, from framing which questions and products to tackle, through collecting information from our complex data ecosystem, transforming that data into insights that can impact our business, and integrating the product into our network of services in collaboration with our engineering team.

Your work will impact all parts of our business: what inventory assortment should we buy, how can we predict if a garment will fit a customer before they try it on, how do you price clothing rentals, what are the key drivers of customer churn, how can you build a personalised onboarding experience, how do we predict demand in the future, how can we make customer service better by serving the right information at the right time, how should we allocate items between warehouses and stores, etc.

About you:

We are excited about you joining our team because you have:

  • A strong academic background in a quantitative field, for example mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, statistics, economics, etc.
  • Experience building software or data products, particularly in Python, our go-to language
  • Passion for data and its ability to drive serious business impact.
  • An innate curiosity and bias to action.
  • Experience tackling vague problems, transforming unframed problems into algorithmic solutions.
  • Great communication skills.
