We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our dedicated, professional and friendly Facilities team based at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics within the Nuffield Department of Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to play an important part in helping to develop the facilities and building operations within a growing and world-leading clinical research department.

The Centre for Human Genetics is a large and diverse research environment, comprising of several clinical research laboratories and facilities as well as various office spaces. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operational management and delivery of facilities services for the Centre to enable building occupants to carry out their research activities effectively. This is a varied and demanding role and you will need to maintain knowledge and understanding of the building operation and that of the groups within it. You will contribute to the coordination and management of a broad range of essential services and related tasks for the building as a whole. You will also line manage two members of staff, and act as deputy to the Building and Facilities Manager as appropriate.

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable experience of building and facilities management at a managerial level, ideally in a laboratory environment. You will need to have experience of managing contracted FM services and evidence of the ability to build strong working relationships with third-party providers. You will come armed with effective communication and problem solving skills, with the ability to prioritise your own workload and delegate effectively to other team members. Excellent IT skills will be crucial to this role, and you will also have a successful track record of developing team members, with the ability to recognise and respond to the diverse needs of research groups.
