Post Title Deputy Head of Technology Enhanced Learning & Digital Capability 

SBU/Department: Office of the Vice Chancellor/Learning & Teaching Innovation Centre

FTE: 1 fte (working 37 hours per week)  

Duration of Contract: Permanent 

Salary: UH9 £56,021pa to £63,029pa with potential to progress to £66,857pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience  

Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year  

Location: De Havilland Campus, Hatfield

Main duties and responsibilities

As the Deputy Head, you will play a significant role in delivering on the University’s strategic plans relating to blended and flexible education that transforms lives. You will provide leadership on initiatives that support the adoption of technologies to enhance learning teaching and assessment and raise the digital capabilities of our staff and student community.  In doing so, you will promote a culture of digital transformation and help to strengthen our reputation as a modern forward-thinking institution that is invested in its staff and produces graduates that are future ready.

Skills and experience required

You will bring experience of leading technology enhanced learning and/or digital capability initiatives, preferably in an educational setting. Your background will include leadership in change initiatives, working with stakeholders, communications planning, and the creation of training and development opportunities. You will also be experienced in data collection, project evaluation, report writing and presenting to senior management. As an experienced manager, you will be adept in positively influencing others, encouraging elevated levels of performance, and an advocate for continuing professional development.

Qualifications required

You will have a post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject (Education, Educational Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science) or substantial proven experience of doing a similar job. A recognised qualification in training and/or learning and teaching and a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (also known as Advance HE) is also desirable.
