We are hiring a Diet Chef to support the team at William Harvey Hospital.
The Diet Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking food according to specified schedules for staff, visitors, and the public, including special diets when requested.

Role: Diet Chef

Rate: GBP12.57 per hour

Location: William Harvey Hospital, Kennington Rd, Willesborough, Ashford, TN24 0LZ

Job Type: Full Time, Contractual Role, Initially for 6 months with the possibility of extension

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week – 5/7 Monday – Sunday (37.5 hours)

Start: As soon as complete the documentation

Essential Qualification:

* Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (Minimum).
* NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Food production or equivalent.
* Good communication skills, including the ability to instruct other staff.
* Strong customer care skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure.
* Flexibility and adaptability.
* Understanding of allergens.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare dishes per agreed menus and recipes for retail, functions, and patient feeding operations.
* Provide friendly, efficient, and courteous service to internal and external customers, ensuring high customer service standards and maximising retail sales.
* Maintain food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene standards, adhering to Health and Safety and Quality protocols.
* Monitor and maintain food presentation standards in the retail operation.
* Participate as a full member of the team, supporting and training other staff, participating in team meetings, and covering other team members as needed.
* Contribute to menu planning and service development within the catering department.
* Store goods correctly, minimise food wastage, and maintain portion control.
* Use and maintain kitchen equipment properly, reporting any faults immediately.
* Undertake ad hoc duties as assigned by the manager and within the scope of skill and capability.
* Supervise and mentor other staff as required for their development and the effective running of the retail kitchen.
* Liaise with dietitians to enhance service delivery.
