Job Title: Director of engineering – Luxury property
Location: Lisbon, Portugal
Salary: A‚¬60,200 gross per annum + bonus

A luxury lifestyle hotel in a busy city-centre location is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead its engineering and maintenance function. The property operates under a major international hotel group and features 150+ guestrooms and multiple dining outlets. The Chief Engineer will report directly to the Operations Manager / General Manager and oversee a team consisting of an Engineering Supervisor and four Engineers.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead all engineering, technical, and maintenance operations within the hotel
* Ensure full compliance with safety, legal, brand, and operational standards
* Oversee preventive maintenance programs and manage all building systems
* Guide and support the engineering team, promoting strong performance and a safety-driven culture
* Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and brand representatives
* Support overall hotel operations by maintaining high service and efficiency levels

Candidate Requirements

* Proven experience within major international hotel brands (e.g., global luxury or lifestyle groups)
* Background in luxury or luxury lifestyle hotels
* Portuguese or Spanish fluency is essential
* Advanced English required due to the international nature of the leadership team
* Strong leadership skills and experience managing engineering teams in dynamic, high-footfall environments
* Pre-opening experience is beneficial but not required
