Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.

Since 2004, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) is IOM’s main operational tool for tracking and monitoring the movements and the evolving needs of displaced populations. It has been systematically deployed in medium to large-scale humanitarian response operations. As of June 2023, the number of countries mobilizing DTM has grown to 100 with over 500 staff engaged on mission projects.

Located in the IOM London office, under the direct supervision of the DTM Analytics, Knowledge and Output, Quality (AKO) Unit Lead (London, UK)/DTM Lead Editor (London, UK), the successful candidate will integrate into the DTM AKO unit. The AKO unit of the global DTM support team is tasked with direct support to country and regional offices to ensure that the quality of analytic outputs is maintained in line with the global DTM standards, and are fit for purpose based on the audience and information needs at the country level.

The AKO unit is also engaged in exploring the analytic potential of DTM data through thematic work streams including children on the move, climate and natural hazard induced mobility, gender and displacement/migration, urban displacement/migration, data science and ethics, the humanitarian, development and peace nexus. With global estimate of crisis-affected migrants (GECAM) work stream, IOM under the direction of DTM, provides ‘Migrants in Need’ estimates to fill in data gaps to better respond to migrant assistance and protection needs in humanitarian crises. The lack of a comprehensive global assessment of the number of migrants impacted by crises has left a gap in our understanding of their scale and specific needs.
